PSHRA San Diego, CA welcomes PSHRA Central California Chapter Members to join them for a webinar titled: Free Speech in the Public Sector Workplace.

Many public employees have taken to social media as an outlet to discuss their thoughts and opinions, including on politics, religion, and even their employers.  Increasingly public employers want to use the employee’s social media or speech in the workplace against them for disciplinary or other purposes.  However, public sector employees have First Amendment protection.  Public employers must be careful before infringing on an employee’s free speech rights.  Join us for a discussion about employee’s free speech rights, the role of Human Resources, and best practices for addressing employees’ conduct that could implicate their free speech rights. The panel members will also provide an in-depth discussion of recent case law regarding free speech and the use of social media (including cases involving local and national politics).
